Every year around the same time in August, there is the Perseid meteor shower.  If the weather is good, you can see a bunch of meteors every few minutes!  The meteor shower usually goes for a couple days and I try to go out at least one of the nights to take some pictures.  This year it was going to be hit or miss with the weather...
