Desert Stop

I don’t know what it is about the desert, but I freakin' love it!  The cactus, the critters, the dirt!  Yes, I'm a little desert rat :)  If I’m not out in it at least once a month, I’ll go crazy.  Even if it’s pulling over on the side of the road to walk around in just my flip flops (done that a few times,) I have to!

                                                                      &nbs…

                                                                                                   That's where I parked :)

I felt almost in a funk lately, so I wanted to get out into nature for a little bit.  I went on to good ol' google maps and started looking at areas of desert around town and decided to go out to Tucson Mountain Park.  I picked out a perfect pull out that had a nice little hill close by with tons of cactus!

Here's a screen shot of what I was looking at and where I planned out going.  I really like to use both the aerial and street view on google to pick out spots to take pictures at!

The hubby and I walked around a little bit, checked out all the plants and rocks, dodged all the jumping cholla and watched the sun set.  It was a gorgeous day / night!

                                                                                                                                                                                               Taken about 20min apart.

I know a lot of places have nice sunsets, but I think Tucson is at the top of that list.  I mean, I wouldn't even consider this one of our "good" sunsets, and come on!  It's glorious! :)

Ok, ok, so we walked around checking out the desert, watched the sun set and got a couple pictures.

But now comes my favorite part...

Night stuff!

Give me the choice between taking pictures during the day or at night and 99.9% of the time, I'll choose night.  I love messing around with "light painting" and long exposures!

Oh, and there's a new app I've been dabbling around with a little bit called Periscope.  Basically it's a live streaming app that lets you broadcast whatever you're doing and people can watch and chat with you in real time from all over the world!  It's pretty cool (and kinda creepy lol).  I did a broadcast while I was out this night and had a few people "tag along" and watch while I was taking the pictures!  One guy even had an idea to light up the cactus from behind and kick up some dust to give it a cool effect!

It was a really nice night.  And I will say that after getting home, I felt like my funk had faded away :)

What is something you would go crazy without?!  Or what do you like to do to pull yourself out of a funk?  Tell me in the comment section below!  :)
