Soooooooooooo, I’m still alive :) I can’t believe how bad I am at keeping up with this blog, jeez! There has been a little bit of new activity on my side keeping me busy, so let me fill you in! I have a new job! Now, this isn’t a photography job (well, kinda) but I’m working full time!
I take a lot of pictures that no one ever sees... Buuuuut I think that’s a lot of photographers in general... Most artist (photographers, writers, performers, creatives, etc.) are their toughest critics and that includes myself. I get very shy when it comes to putting my photos out there for some reason. So if I'm at all hesitant about how I feel with one of my shots, it gets kicked to the “recycle bin”.
Hi guys! Little bit of a different post today :) I’m sure some of you have heard of a website called BorrowLenses.com before, but if not, you’re in luck! Basically Borrow Lenses is a website you can go to to rent all kinds of different camera equipment. Whether it’s for photography or video, if you need extra batteries or memory cards, they have tons of stuff!
Holy crap I was scared! I mean, I’m usually nervous taking pictures by myself. But walking around in the desert, at night, can definitely freak me out! I do love being out there by myself, doing whatever I please! Buuuuut there’s always those thoughts running through my mind - “What if I get bit by a snake? What if I fall off the mountain? What if someone comes and steals me or worse, my camera!!!" ;)
Sometimes during the week I like to stop and hike little trails before certain jobs. I take pictures at estate sale homes and a lot of them are out in some gorgeous scenery. This trail up on Mount Lemmon (I know, that seems like the only place I go…) I drive past just about every time, but I’ve never stopped. It’s called Babad Do’ag Trail...
Looking online I saw there were some bands playing at Sky Bar down on 4th avenue. I had actually never shot any shows there before and the bands looked good! IOTA, Early Black and Rotary Seed Dial were the bands that were playing this night.
One of my current jobs is to do content photography for Main Gate Square. Main Gate Square is a section of businesses close to the University that has a lot of different restaurants and stores to shop in. I go into all the businesses and take photos of different things like products, food & drinks, or people hanging out...
First I want to apologize for not posting anything in awhile. To be honest, nothing that exciting has been going on, so you’re not missing out lol. I have clients that I take pictures for, but no other big projects going on. This time of year it always gets a little crazy with holidays and such, JOY (and that was a sarcastic joy lol) ;) I did get out a few times and managed to squeeze in some pics!
Long exposure photography is when you take a picture and the shutter is open longer than say, a second. Your camera takes in all the light and everything that it can "see" while the shutter is open. One way to think about it is when you look at a picture, can you tell that something is moving? That's usually a long exposure image!...
When I first got my camera, the big thing I wanted to take pictures of was concerts! Not only do I love music, but I love being at a live shows! I use to go to any free show that let me bring in my camera. Now a days I don’t get to do it as much, but whenever I get the chance, I love it...
I don’t know what it is about the desert, but I freakin' love it! The cactus, the critters, the dirt! Yes, I'm a little desert rat :) If I’m not out in it at least once a month, I’ll go crazy. Even if it’s pulling over on the side of the road to walk around in just my flip flops (done that a few times,) I have to!...
Every year around the same time in August, there is the Perseid meteor shower. If the weather is good, you can see a bunch of meteors every few minutes! The meteor shower usually goes for a couple days and I try to go out at least one of the nights to take some pictures. This year it was going to be hit or miss with the weather...
Last year I stopped into a nightclub to take pictures of some bands playing and came across Harlette. They’re a local band from Tucson and they kick ass! I got some nice shots, shared them with the band and they really liked them. Fast forward a year later, they’re playing a show and wanted a photographer, so they gave me a call!...
Self portraits are things that I love & hate. I love being able to experiment with different ideas or things and I also love not having to worry about asking somebody to do something (usually over and over again). But I hate taking pictures of my face...
My last post was talking about why I've been m.i.a. This one has more pictures I wanted to share. We went to Iowa. Watched some storms. Caught some meteors. Hiked around! Just a few of my favorite things :)
